Dr. Aleksandra Simic​

Director, Office of Social Impact Investment

Aleksandra heads the Office of Social Impact Investment (OSII) at NSW Treasury. OSII facilitates better services, better outcomes, and better value for the people of NSW through impact investing. OSII partner with Government agencies, for-purpose and for-profit sectors to implement outcome-focused, innovative, early-intervention programs aimed at tackling social issues and building capability amongst agencies and service providers to participate in social impact investing.

Under Aleksandra’s leadership OSII expanded its reach, from social impact bonds and payment-by-results instruments, into the broader impact investing market, and now leads asset identification and impact reporting under the NSW Sustainability Bond Programme. The Programme provides investors with the opportunity to be part of a more sustainable future by helping to (re)finance projects that support positive and transparent economic, social and environmental outcomes, and supports Australia’s commitment to meeting the UN SDGs.

Prior to leading OSII, Aleksandra worked globally in economic consulting with a focus on measuring and evaluating impacts. She holds a PhD in Economics and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
