Mason Wallick

CEO – Clime Capital

Mason Wallick is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Clime Capital, has overall responsibility for the management of the company, and is a member of the Funds’ investment committees. Mason supports primary investment origination efforts, investment selection, investment structuring, and portfolio management. Mason is also a regional board advisor to the Energy Transition Partnership, funded and supported by donor governments and philanthropy. He has served as an active director of over 20 boards and has led teams of investment and development professionals. Mason has over 20 years’ experience in energy investment decision-making, primarily in Southeast Asia, supporting over USD 70 billion of successful debt and equity transactions.

Mason Wallick has over 15 years of direct experience managing portfolios of greenfield energy and infrastructure investments totaling billions of dollars of AUM. He brings a demonstrated track record of numerous profitable exits at the asset and portfolio level in energy and infrastructure.

Mason previously founded Infunde Development in 2016 as Managing Director / CEO. Infunde Development was appointed as the exclusive development services provider to InfraCo Asia for Southeast Asia with USD 45 million of committed early-stage development capital under the program. Under Mason’s leadership, Infunde Development led the early-stage origination and development of 1,400MW of renewable energy capacity in Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines beginning in 2016. The early-stage development portfolio has received offers from private sector participants for acquisition and exit of InfraCo Asia’s interest in less than five years, leading to Mason’s profitable exit

Prior to this Mason Wallick founded Infunde Capital beginning in 2013. Infunde Capital has advised lenders, developers, and investors on assets and portfolios of assets totaling over USD 14 billion of successful debt and greenfield equity transactions in the energy sector across APAC since 2013.

Prior to 2013, Mason Wallick held increasing levels of responsibility and leadership at WestLB AG (Hong Kong and Singapore branches) and D/A Capital Singapore (hedge fund spun out of Credit Suisse). At WestLB, Mason was a member of the executive committee based in Singapore, responsible for the origination/execution of project financings and the portfolio management of a book of project finance loans representing about half of the lender’s energy-related exposures in APAC. Mason was one of the lender-supporting members of the IFC Performance Standards (Financial Institution) and helped shape investment guidelines on climate, sustainability, and measures to undertake to reduce the bank’s exposure to coal-fired power plants in Asia. At D/A Capital, Mason was involved in investment structuring and analysis of principal equity, high-yield bonds, and convertible notes in the energy sector in Asia.

Prior to the above investment roles Mason provided technical and market due diligence as a financial consulting and lenders’ engineer at Harris Group and R. W. Beck supporting over USD 50 billion of successful debt and equity placements for energy infrastructure investments in Asia, Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Americas on behalf of leading lenders and equity investors.

As part of the roles above, Mason was involved in the evaluation of new technologies in the energy sector as well as emission inventories for GHG emissions. At D/A Capital, WestLB, Infunde Capital, and Infunde Development, Mason was responsible for environmental and social matters for the various investments.

Mason holds a Master of Science in Mineral and Energy Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, both from the Colorado School of Mines.
